Employee Matt Barber Settles With Allstate

Unread postby Disgusted With Allstate » Wed Mar 01, 2006 4:10 pm

If there ever was a need for the unionization of Allstate Insurance Company employees, this story is it!
Allstate Insurance Company recently fired their own employee, Matt Barber a devout Christian, for publishing an article in a magazine relating his biblical applications to the practice of homosexuality. When Allstate confronted Matt with the article, he admitted to writing it on his own time. Allstate advised Matt that his article is not in consensus with the company's position and with that, Mr. Barber was physically escorted off of the Allstate premises then later terminated.
Hard to Believe? You might agree or disagree with Matt's views but is our country at the point where Corporate America can now fire an employee for expressing their personal views on their own time that may be contrary to the company's views? Are employees to live in fear of retaliation from Corporate America if they happen to disagree with the company's published moral/amoral views? Should Corporations be allowed to dictate what their employees think regarding very personal matters? If Allstate is allowed to get away with this, it will not be a stretch that employers will fire employees for expressing their opinions about other issues as well such as birth control, partial birth abortions, euthanasia, the death penalty, right to life, political party affiliation, etc. These are all very strong and important issues that are very personal in nature, especially in regards to an individual's beliefs and values system. The bullying Corporations should not be allowed to force or dictate their beliefs, depraved or not, onto its employees. The bullying Corporations should not be allowed to fire someone for sharing or even having an opinion that does not represent the "corporate position".
The only reason Allstate settled with Matt Barber is due to the very public backlash they incurred. There are many Allstate employees who are fired for no reason whatsover. They are harassed, bullied, intimidated, forced to work heavier work loads than their counterparts, etc. but their stories would not provide fuel for public interest. Whether one agrees with unionization or not, at least a union would provide some protection from the insecure and inept management that has so obviously run amok at Allstate.
I'm sure there are good managers at Allstate but Allstate does exercise the "Peter Principle". Allstate management does promote the incompetent-those who can't or are unable to think for themselves. They will promote those who have no morals, no values and no character. They will promote those that will do what they are told without question. Imagine the state of affairs if this is allowed to go on. Ask Matt Barber-he lived it.

I personally agree it's outrageous that something like this happened!

However, I can also see how it can occur. It's a darned if you do; darned if you don't situation.

Let's say Matt isworking with a customer or a fellow employee who has an alternative lifestyle. For whatever reason, that person is not happy with Matt and files legal action.

Argument #1:

Company knowlingly and willingly kept a "biased" and "bigoted" employee within its ranks and should be duly punished for doing so. See said article.

Argument #2:

Most of these large companies have some sort of "diversity" training. Assuming this is the case, then, the whole company is "biased" and "bigoted" and apparently promote this culture against a whole class of people by their willingness to employ said person.

Basically, this guy has really hurt himself in corporate america. Would you hire him for your company if you knew the article was out there for public scrutiny.

Yes, he's got freedom of speech. But, just because you are free to speak your mind doesn't necessarily mean you should.

Mr. Barber was stupid and should have published that article under a "ghost" author's name. What if he was member of the KKK and openly advertised it? Imo, the article he wrote put his employer and himself in a no-win situation.

He can be fired Immediately under the Morals and terpitude clause he agreed too when he was licensed by his States Insurance department. Just because he has a right to say anything he wants, doesn't mean his company cannot fire him for saying something stupid. There are laws that protect people from hate crimes and Allstate is justifiably protecting themselves from being involved in that lawsuit. The morals and terpitude clause that all agents (including myself) live by does not have a time frame, day, night or otherwise. Remember, just because you enjoy freedom of Speech, you still have to be sensible when using it which is why you are arrested for yelling "fire" in a crowded theatre.

So as it turns out you are no better than your opinions of Allstate. How do you know what is in the hearts and minds of Allstate employees? According to you we are all immoral, mindless buffoons. Clearly you have no first hand knowledge of the work environment and are talking right out of your @$$. How dare you lump a whole group of people into your little weak minded bucket!

I will tell you what, maybe the guy shouldn't have been fired. I know he shouldn't have in anyway shape or form associated his personal beliefs with Allstate (or any employer). That includes using their computers, phones, network, fax machines, copiers or their time.

Being religious should not mean doing everything you can to discredit people you don't know. I suspect the very actions you take in support of your beliefs are going to land you right in Hell!!

Oh and I met this guy many times, he is a liar about not doing things on company time. He was well known for his antics.

As a long term contractor I heard all about it and observed it once. Wish still worked there so I could take pictures of him for you.

People like you and Matt give my religion a bad name

Hello "Guest"

I believe most workers in the trenches would agree that Allstate does, as a rule, promote those who will "goose step" to Allstate's orders regardless of what is morally right. Those few managers who are moral, will normally (after a period of ethical dilemma) step down from their management positions. Those who do goose step are the (as you say) "immoral, mindless buffoons" but are also treacherous as they have the ability to order moral subordinates to do their will. If and when the moral suboridnate is to take a stand is when the cowardly and weak minded supervisor utilizes their authority by harassing the honest and decent employee. They begin by issuing negative file reviews, negative feedback on "ride-a-longs" false statments to co-supervisors as well as to upper management, etc.
I am not alone when I say the inept management have no compunction when it comes to ruining a good empoyee and ending their career. Forget about using the "WE CARE program". It should be "WE CARE ABOUT ALLSTATE MANAGEMENT PROGRAM". This program is equivalent to a Jew making a complaint to the SS regarding Nazis actions. Who is the SS going to find fault with? An independent mediation firm, with both parties in agreement to that company, should be utilized for this process.
Note that I responded without insulting you or defiling your character. Let's be professional.

When one disagrees with a chosen lifestyle, this does not make them a bigot. It is an opinion.

Expressing a belief is not a crime. Yelling "fire" in a crowded theatre when there is not, is a crime. Apples and oranges, my friend.

Got news for you my friend,

expressing an opinion (your belief) that that gays are immoral is a crime in this country, the same as expressing "your" belief that blacks should sit at the back of the bus. This is profiling and racially motivated and is bigotry in it's simplest form. I'm sure you don't agree but thats all right you can discuss it with the other Klan members at the next meeting.

Well Mike,

Last I checked, it is not a crime in this country to state that homosexual behavior is immoral. If it were, there would be a lot of religious leaders in jail right now as well as politicians, talk show hosts, writers, oh, and Matt Barber too. If indeed it is a crime to express an opinion that gays are immoral, you may want to quote the law that you seem to believe is being broken. By the way, Matt Barber is still writing editorials regarding family values and he's not doing this from a jail cell.

And who said blacks should sit at the back of the bus? Where did that come from? And am I understanding you to say if an individual believes homosexual behavior is immoral then they are a member of the Klan? What does the Klan have to do with stating an opinion regarding homosexual behavior and whether one agees or disagrees with that opinion?
You also say "This is profiling and racially motivated and is bigotry in it's simplest form." Huh?? Where is the profiling? Where is the racial motivation? Maybe you are not aware of this but gays can be black, white, brown, yellow, red or whatever. By your own statements, you are professing bigotry which is defined as narrow minded, intolerant, prejudiced.
I don't know you but your thoughts on this subject are irrational, lacks coherence and are most definitely bigoted.

Go back and read my first post on the subject. As a licensed agent, broker or what have you by his states department of insurance, he is not held by the same standard. We read lawsuits everyday in this country about biased behavior within the corporate world. Some states now require companies of a certain size to have a set percentage of minority workforce just to make sure this type of example does not happen. This is why I go back to my original thought which is

a) his morals and terpitude clause excludes him from doing this at any time.
b) his company guidelines prohibit him from doing this at any time.
c) his company manual certainly does not allow him to do it on company time
d) his actions are/were likely to get his company in a lot of hot water(lawsuit).

My remark about the klan was simply that every person and or group has a position. As long as that position remains simply verbal or written it is not a crime. The minute you act in any way shape or form on that position it becomes a hate crime. Now I'm sure we could argue all day long that he never acted on his position, but do any of us actually believe that. And if we give it enough time, even in written form will become a crime. There are cases going on right now where simply painting N----r or F-G on a tree or cross has been labled a hate crime even though no damage was done. And if you don't believe that will ever happen here, go to Germany right now and pronounce verbally that the holocaust was an illusion and never happened, It's a felony.

Well personally I believe they should not have fired him and instead let the public decide if they wanted a bigot as an agent. Eventually his book of business would have chosen to go elsewhere where someone wasn't cramming their own morals down your throats. Let's see Ted Haggert just to eat alot of words..........

Consumer Report: Allstate Insurance Openly Anti-Family
By Nathan Tabor

“Your In Good Hands With Allstate” is there motto. Sounds like a great place to be, right? Wrong.

David Gibbs III, Terri Schiavo’s former attorney, is preparing for a new foray into America’s intense Culture War. This time the battle will take place on the “same-sex marriage” front, and his adversary will be Chicago based Allstate Insurance Company.

Gibbs has introduced to America his most recent client – J. Matt Barber.

Barber is a former five-year employee of Allstate at their corporate headquarters in Northbrook, IL. According to associates with Gibbs Law Firm in Seminole FL, Matt was recently, expressly, and illegally fired by Allstate for writing and publishing an opinion-editorial at home, on his own time, about so-called “same-sex marriage.”

In the Op-Ed, Barber defended the sanctity of marriage, and pointed out what he views as the negative aspects of both same-sex marriage, and the homosexual lifestyle – views he says are deeply rooted in his religious beliefs, and supported by clear Biblical principles.

Gibbs has filed a federal lawsuit against Allstate, on behalf of Barber, for religious/viewpoint discrimination, and retaliation in violation of Title VII of the 1964 Civil Rights Act.

To add insult to injury, just two weeks prior to being fired by Allstate, Matt’s wife gave birth to their 3rd child in four years following a highly stressful at-risk pregnancy. She was still in recovery from her C-section surgery when Allstate, fully aware of the Barbers’ situation, callously snatched away both their medical insurance and their means of providing for their young family. Additionally, the Barbers are losing their home, and may have to declare bankruptcy due to Allstate’s illegal actions.

But the Company’s actions may not be that difficult to explain. In recent years Allstate has aligned itself with several of the most activist homosexual organizations in America. In addition to contributing huge sums of money to the most militant of these organizations, to include LAMBDA (http://www.lambda.org) and GLAAD (http://www.glaad.org), Allstate forces all employees to undergo “diversity training” in promotion of the homosexual lifestyle. Within the work environment, they prohibit any vocalized opposition of either homosexuality, or “same-sex marriage.” Furthermore, they offer “domestic partnership benefits,” essentially treating homosexual employees and their “partners” as married couples.

Allstate will have a hard time wiggling their way out of this one. The State of Illinois (Department of Employment Security) has conducted a thorough investigation into Allstate’s actions and has ruled, without equivocation, in favor of Mr. Barber. With respect to his case, the investigation determined: “The claimant was discharged from Allstate Insurance Company because an outside organization had complained about an article he had written while on his own time.” The State’s investigation further concluded that Allstate intentionally chose to terminate Barber’s employment for writing the article in spite of the fact that he engaged in absolutely no misconduct whatsoever: “The term misconduct means the deliberate and willful violation of a reasonable rule or policy of the employer…In this case, the claimant’s action which resulted in his discharge was not deliberate and willful.”

Armed with the findings of the State’s investigation, and based upon his proven track record, there’s little doubt that David Gibbs III will confront head-on, both Allstate and its radical pro-homosexual / anti-family policies with the same fervor displayed during the Terri Shiavo battle.

So a new question for America to debate over coming weeks and months is whether an extremely powerful organization like Allstate Insurance Company has the legal and/or moral right to attempt to indoctrinate its employees into accepting the homosexual lifestyle in conflict with their deeply held religious beliefs.

Do you think the ACLU will come to Barber’s defense?

Perhaps the more important question for discussion, is whether a radically pro-homosexual company such as Allstate, has the right to discriminate against its employees, and to destroy them emotionally, professionally, and financially, simply because they happen to believe, and to share on their own time, what the Bible teaches about human sexuality and the sanctity of marriage.

In the former Soviet Union the answer to these questions was – Yes.

In America…I hope to God the answer is still no.

It’s time we as Americans rise up and let Corporate America hear our collective voice. The American Family Association boycotted Ford for its blatant homosexual advertisements and willing support of radical homosexual causes and organizations. Now the owners of Ford dealerships are letting the Ford Corporation know that they don’t appreciate it, and Ford has promised to re-evaluate its policies. Let’s encourage Allstate to re-evaluate its pro-homosexual / anti-family policies as well. This is what you need to do:

Telephone Allstate CEO Ed Liddy’s office at 1-847-402-5000 or contact the Company at 1-800-Allstate (1-800-255-7828) and ask why Mr. Liddy allows his Company to discriminate against people of faith. Demand that Allstate change its anti-faith / anti-family policy. You can also e-mail Allstate by clicking on https://messaging.allstate.com/Corp/Cor ... sEmail.asp.

Contact the Allstate Agents in your area (simply click on this link for contact information: http://agent.allstate.com/) and demand that Allstate stop discriminating against Christians and other people of faith.

Please forward this article to friends and family.

Matt Barber: Commies, Fascists and Perverts, Oh My!
Student/Pastor discounts to hear Barber at AFTAH banquet Sat., Oct. 24

Rainbow Agenda in Schools: GLSEN, the group that President Obama’s “Safe Schools” advisor, Kevin Jennings, founded, promotes books like “Rainbow Boys” that recklessly advance the idea that homosexuality and “gay” sex are normative. Read pro-family advocate Linda Harvey’s description of “Rainbow Boys” HERE. Who decided that America’s taxpayer-funded schools would become pro-homosexuality indoctrination zones?

Leave it to Matt Barber to get to the heart of a matter, in this case the scandalous appointment of GLSEN (Gay, Lesbian, Straight Education Network) founder Kevin Jennings to head up President Obama’s “Safe Schools” efforts. The real issue in this controversy is Jennings’ promotion of homosexual and gender-confused lifestyles — to innocent children in schools, using stealth tactics and misleading euphemisms like, well… “safe schools.” Since when did tax-funded schools become pro-homosexuality indoctrination zones for impressionable kids?

Homosexual practice is wrong (sinful), unnatural, physically destructive — and most important, changeable (hence the many ex-”gays” living happy lives). Homosexuality is not and never will be the basis for a healthy “identity.” Even if Jennings hadn’t failed to report a predatory situation involving on of his sophomore students (”Brewster”); even if he he hadn’t used the F-word in a church to denounce the “religious right”; or if he had never presided over “Fistgate” — an unbelievable educational atrocity in which Massachusetts minors were given perverted “how-to” talks about “fisting” by homosexual adults — Jennings should be removed from his government job because his whole life’s work is to promote immoral sexual and gender lifestyles to children.

Come hear Matt as the keynote speaker at AFTAH’s fundraising banquet on Saturday, Oct. 24, 2009 at the Christian Liberty Academy in Arlington Heights, IL. And if you can, pay for a student or your pastor to come — to encourage you to do so, we’ll cut the price in half from $50 to just $25/student or pastor. Young people and our spiritual leaders need to hear Matt’s bold, unapologetic approach to the “culture wars.” You can sign up online using the “Online Banquet Sign-up” form at http://www.americansfortruth.com/donate/. Thank you! — Peter LaBarbera

Here is Matt’s piece on Kevin Jennings:

Commies, Fascists and Perverts, Oh My!
By Matt Barber
Tuesday, October 06, 2009

Obama’s inner-circle is shaping-up like the bar scene from Star Wars. It’s a swollen throng of unaccountable czars and policy advisors comprised of some of the most bizarre fringe leftists imaginable. As mom always said, you’re known by the company you keep and Obama keeps some downright creepy company.

Here’s a sampling: First, we have disgraced former green-jobs czar Van “tinfoil hat” Jones. Jones, a self avowed communist and 9-11 “truther,” was forced to resign after revelations of his extremism became public.

Then there’s science czar John Holdren, the unzipped Harvard professor who wants a “Planetary Regime” to control world population through compulsory sterilization and forced abortion.

And of course there’s the administration’s very own Dr. Dolittle: regulatory czar Cass Sunstien, who advocates that animals be allowed to sue people.

But perhaps the creepiest of Obama’s advisers is “safe schools” chief Kevin Jennings. Jennings – an open homosexual activist – is former director of GLSEN (the Gay, Lesbian and Straight Education Network), a highly controversial group of adult homosexual activists who promote sexual anarchy and tacitly work to normalize the criminal practice of pederasty.

GLSEN’s primary purpose is to push dangerous and even deadly homosexual and cross-dressing behaviors in our government schools on children as young as five. So bold is Jennings in his promotion of homosexual behavior among children that he even penned the foreword to a book entitled “Queering Elementary Education.” (I don’t know about you, but Jennings and his ilk will “queer” my elementary-age kids over my dead body.)

A number of Jennings past activities disqualify him from holding any position relating to children; but a recently revealed scandal involving an exchange between him and a former tenth-grade student leaves no doubt that he’s unfit to serve in his current capacity. Jennings has admitted that while he was a teacher, a boy –– whom he understood to be 15 years-old –– shared that he had been sodomized by an “older man” who lured him home from a bus stop toilet.

Of course any reasonable teacher would have immediately called police and notified the student’s parents. But Kevin Jennings –– an anti-Christian bigot who once said of Christians: “F – k ‘em! … Drop Dead!” [in a church]– is anything but reasonable. Instead, he affirmed both the man-boy homosexual encounter and the boy’s “gayness,” flippantly telling him, “I hope you knew to use a condom.” (Jennings recently admitted that he “should have handled this situation differently” but, as of yet, has arrogantly refused to step-down or even apologize).

Still, Jennings’ cavalier attitude toward adult-child sex should really come as no surprise. In a1997 speech he voiced his admiration for Harry Hay, longtime advocate of the homosexual/pedophile group NAMBLA (the North American Man-Boy Love Association.)

According to NAMBLA’s website, Hay made the following statement in a 1983 address: “I also would like to say at this point that it seems to me that in the gay community the people who should be running interference for NAMBLA are the parents and friends of gays. Because if the parents and friends of gays are truly friends of gays, they would know from their gay kids that the relationship with an older man is precisely what thirteen-, fourteen-, and fifteen-year-old kids need more than anything else in the world. And they would be welcoming this, and welcoming the opportunity for young gay kids to have the kind of experience that they would need.”

Sickening, right? Shocking, no? Well, not to Kevin Jennings. His take? He gushed, “One of the people that’s always inspired me is Harry Hay.”

But, again, this should come as no surprise. Homosexual/pedophile groups like NAMBLA and homosexual activist groups have long been brothers-in-arms. In many instances, members of both groups are one-in-the-same. According to the non-partisan homosexual activist watchdog organization Americans for Truth About Homosexuality, NAMBLA marched alongside “gay” activist groups in “gay pride” parades for years until it became politically burdensome for homosexual activists to continue allowing them to do so.

As with “gay” activist pioneer Harry Hay, legalizing adult-child sex has long been a goal of many homosexual activists (for years, overtly and today, covertly). Boys and teens utilized for homosex are referred to as “chicken” in “gay” lexicon.

In fact, part of homosexual activists “1972 Gay Rights Platform” called for the “repeal [of] all laws governing the age of sexual consent.” This should send a chill down the spine of any parent. Such a repeal would legally allow homosexuals and pedophiles to access your children and teens for their own predatory sexual gratification – so long as those children “consented” to having sex (like the boy who confided in Jennings).

To be sure, Jennings is no stranger to scandal. In a 2000 GLSEN sponsored event, adult homosexual activists were caught in an ACORN-style sting teaching children as young as 13 the horrific practice of “fisting.” (For a definition click here, it’s not fit to print). Jennings’ response? He defended the event and even filed suit in an attempt to cover-up the scandal.

But “cover-up” is at the very core of Jennings’ strategy. In 1995, while summarizing his political approach of manipulation and indoctrination, he warned fellow homosexual activists to hide their true motives and avoid using language about “promoting homosexuality.” Instead, he astutely observed that “the effective reframing of this issue” through the disingenuous use of propagandist euphemisms such as “safety” and “violence” was “the key to…success.”

It’s worked like a charm.

But rather than being appointed by Obama to such a position of power and prestige, both Kevin Jennings and GLSEN should be held liable for engaging in reckless educational malpractice. By promoting and facilitating homosexual behavior among children, they demonstrably place children at risk.

Multiple studies have established, for instance, that homosexual conduct, especially among males, is considerably more hazardous to one’s health than a lifetime of chain smoking.

One such study – conducted by pro-“gay” researchers in Canada – was published in the International Journal of Epidemiology (IJE) in 1997. (see the study here: http://ije.oxfordjournals.org/cgi/reprint/26/3/657.pdf)

While the medical consensus is that smoking knocks from two to 10 years off an individual’s life expectancy, the IJE study found that homosexual conduct shortens the lifespan of “gays” by an astounding “8 to 20 years” – more than twice that of smoking.

“[U]nder even the most liberal assumptions,” concluded the researchers, “gay and bisexual men in this urban centre are now experiencing a life expectancy similar to that experienced by all men in Canada in the year 1871. … [L]ife expectancy at age 20 years for gay and bisexual men is 8 to 20 years less than for all men.”

The risks associated with homosexual conduct are so drastic, in fact, that U.S. health regulations prohibit men who have sex with men (MSM) and women who have had sex with MSM, from ever donating blood. (Yet Jennings and GLSEN encourage children to engage in the very behaviors that – for quantifiable health related reasons – would preclude them from giving blood … ever.)

Consider that, according to the Food and Drug Administration, MSM, “have an HIV prevalence 60 times higher than the general population, 800 times higher than first time blood donors and 8,000 times higher than repeat blood donors.”

Adults and children who engage in homosexual conduct – especially males – are also susceptible – at an astronomical rate – to nearly all other forms of sexually transmitted disease (STD). For example, the Hepatitis B virus is about five to six times more prevalent among “gays,” and Hepatitis C is twice as common.

Furthermore, a 2007 study conducted by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention found that, although homosexuals make-up only a fraction of the population (one to two percent), they account for an epidemic 64 percent of all syphilis cases.

So, all of this begs the question: Why on God’s earth is this Kevin Jennings nut – whose entire life’s work has irrefutably placed children at risk – in charge of promoting “safe schools”? He’s even bragged in his personal memoirs about his own drug and alcohol abuse.

Indeed, Obama’s Jennings appointment was a gold medal blunder among a litany of Olympic-sized missteps. If his administration seeks to salvage any modicum of rapidly waning credibility, the President must force Jennings to step down and denounce his reckless behavior.

Every day Jennings remains in place is another day he hurts Obama; but more importantly, it’s another day he hurts children.

The real scandal is that Jennings was ever appointed in the first place. He must go and he must go now.

By J. Matt Barber

We were in elementary school — morning recess by the jungle gym. My buddy Kyle presided over the ceremony. I was the groom and Karen Smith was the blushing bride. The mock wedding lasted about three minutes. The mock marriage lasted about half-a-day. Oh, I was faithful — until Christina McCarroll caught my wandering eye during Math class. Of course we weren’t really married — we were fourth graders - but we sure had fun pretending.

Flash forward about twenty-five years — San Francisco, CA — An activist Mayor, Gavin Newsom, taunts the State’s voters and defies both the rule of law and the sanctity of marriage as he cons thousands of “same-sex couples,” including the corpulent Queen of crass herself, Rosie O’Donnell, into taking part in a number of mock weddings held in San Francisco’s City Hall. Of course they weren’t really married — but they sure seemed to have fun pretending.

Webster defines marriage as: “The legal union of a man and a woman for life, as husband and wife” - a definition consistent with humanity’s own since the very beginning of recorded time. Marriage between one man and one woman, and the nuclear family have forever been cornerstones of civilized society. Regrettably, there are at present, many within the militant homosexual lobby who wish to take a sledge hammer to those cornerstones — many who hope to undermine both the historical and contemporary reality of marriage and family - many who, through judicial fiat, aim to circumvent the Constitution, the legislative process, and the overwhelming will of the people in an effort to redefine marriage. Accordingly, the unsolicited, oxymoronic and spurious expression “same-sex marriage” has been forced into popular lexicon.

As more and more Americans begin to unite against the radical concept of “same-sex marriage” we learn that our northerly Canadian neighbors are once again on the cutting edge of societal de-evolution. The Canadian Parliament is considering passage of legislation, which would legalize “same-sex marriage” nation-wide [and has now done so]. To Canada, we offer this sincere admonition: If you pass it, they will come — that is, along with all the Blue-State fringe lefties despondent over our recent Presidential election, expect to see droves of American “same-sex couples” crossing the border in search of their own little slice of “progressive” utopia. But we digress.

As the “same-sex marriage” battle wages on within the larger culture war here in our own Country, it’s important to accurately define the terms. Aside from the obvious, what is homosexuality? Is it a status - a state of being — a word that typifies one’s membership in a suspect, minority class no different than Black or Female? Let’s consider. To be Black or Female, one need only be Black or Female. Membership in either class is contingent upon nothing. It’s a state of being, which represents entirely neutral qualities (i.e., skin color and/or gender). On the other hand, homosexuality is contingent upon something: behavior — a person’s actions — choices made — their “sexual preference.” It’s the end result of choosing to define one’s identity based upon with whom, and how one elects to have sex.

There are those who hold to the theory that people who engage in homosexual behavior are “born that way” — that they’re merely acting upon intrinsic characteristics of their own, unique genetic make-up. They desperately cling to, and repeatedly cite various “studies” which seem to support the “born that way” theory. They entirely disregard the fact that to date, there has been no credible, empirical evidence to support the theory, nor has the “respectable” scientific community embraced even one study. In fact, the vast majority of studies have been debunked outright, and the associated “scientists” have been exposed as homosexual activists attempting to further an extremist agenda. Additionally, the theory’s proponents have been wholly unable to reconcile its central theme with the so-called “bi-sexual” condition, which on its face would seem to eliminate any illusion of merit.

By the same token, there’s a growing movement among adulterous heterosexual men with estranged wives, who likewise embrace the theory that they were “born that way” — that their genetic makeup precludes the monogamy option, and requires that they have multiple sex partners. Charming, no?

At the risk of being arrested, charged with a “hate-crime” and dragged away to a “progressive” re-education camp, I’ll put aside for a moment the flawed, emotion based, irrational silliness that is “Political Correctness” (in the event I’ve been overly PC thus far). Rather than approaching our analysis of homosexual behavior from the traditional, liberal, PC perspective, let’s look at it from the rarely visited “Biologically Correct” (BC) vantage point. For one to believe that homosexual behavior, the act of sodomy in particular, follows the biological order of things, one must ignore the fact that sodomy violates natural law - you know, wrong plumbing, square hole/round peg. The whole thing really is a testament to man’s creativity. Give us something good, and we’ll bend over backwards to twist it into something else.

Without delving into the overly descriptive mechanics, suffice it to say that, scientifically speaking, the sexual act was designed for procreation — nothing more, nothing less. I know, not very romantic, but we’re talking science here. Further, the design behind the human digestive system was solely and entirely intended for digestion, not for makeshift sexual activity — there’s not a sex organ in the mix. The notion that the act of sodomy is a natural, biological event simply does not square with biological reality. It may be PC but it sure ain’t BC.

Still, perhaps the most troubling aspect of the homosexual lifestyle in general, is its destructive nature. Destructive not only in terms of the emotional harm it may cause, but destructive also in terms of the health related issues that will almost certainly arise as its consequence.

You may have noticed that you’re barraged on a daily basis by the left’s self-righteous indignation, as they wax eloquent about the harm caused by tobacco, pollution, drugs, alcohol — fatty foods — name your poison. Countless lawsuits have been filed under the pretext of recovering damages to cover health care costs relative to these vices. And they are vices, no doubt. But, these vices are fair game; they don’t fall within a PC protected class. Consider this: When was the last time you heard about the dreadful and preventable health related pitfalls, which stem from the homosexual lifestyle? You don’t — you won’t — you can’t — you shan’t — Don’ t confuse the Left with the facts. That’s “insensitive!”

As a result of the concerted effort by liberals to mask the devastating effects of the gay lifestyle, many people are shocked to learn that the average life expectancy of a homosexual male is only about 45 years old - 30 years younger than that of a heterosexual male.

One study determined that homosexual males have from between 20 to 106 sexual partners per year. It’s no wonder that homosexual men account for over 50% of all hepatitis cases, and still account for over 50% of all AIDS cases despite the fact that they only make up 1-3% of the population. Homosexual men and women share a markedly increased risk of contracting nearly all forms of STD. The men frequently suffer from other sodomy related injuries, and are far more likely to be murdered (likely by another homosexual) than their heterosexual counterparts; this, due to the typically raucous and oft anonymous nature of the gay lifestyle.

All of these things considered, and given that the cost to treat an AIDS patient averages nearly $350,000, the homosexual lifestyle shares responsibility, by no small measure, for this country’s skyrocketing health care costs.

Fortunately, for those who wish to escape the homosexual lifestyle, there is support. A number of homosexual recovery organizations such as Exodus International and NARTH have helped thousands of people who have been addicted to homosexual behaviors, successfully leave the lifestyle. Many have gone on to have happy and fulfilled heterosexual marriages, to include the greatest of all blessings. children.

But the militants don’t want to hear it. In fact, they don’t want you to hear it, and have proposed legislation to ban such recovery organizations claiming that any mention of homosexual recovery is “hate-speech.” But it’s predictable — any time anyone dare expose the aforementioned truths about the homosexual lifestyle, or criticize the homosexual lobby for its radical anti-marriage, anti-family agenda, there’s an enormous backlash. It’s an age-old tactic geared toward silencing one’s critics. It consists primarily of the ad hominem attack — Homophobe! Hate-Monger! Bigot! Gay Basher! Neanderthal! — And on and on it goes. It grows old. It wears thin, but it should be taken with a grain of salt.

Many homosexuals choose not to recognize that the majority of their detractors really do care for them as individuals, hold no animus toward them, and would not presume to dictate what sexual anomalies they entertain behind closed doors, whether self-destructive or not. However, when militant homosexual activists attempt to quell all criticism of their behavior, force society to accept that behavior, and further attempt to alter the fabric of society by changing it to correspond with their own morally relative, androgynous notion of marriage, then those same activists shouldn’t be at all surprised to discover that they’ve angered those who value the sanctity of marriage — they shouldn’t be taken aback to find that they have one h*ll of fight on their hands - to expect anything less would be queer indeed.

The Right Hook

Matt Barber approaches politics and the culture war with the intensity he demonstrated as an undefeated prize fighter. He is not a go-along-to-get-along type of guy. He recognizes that our culture and the political system are under assault and he intends to fight for them. And, as anyone privy to his excellent writings can attest, he’s got the right hook to make the difference.

As Barber explains in these pages, he entered this different fight arena when he got fired for penning an article in which he had the audacity to defy the inflexible laws of political correctness, by defending traditional marriage. Since then he has had many other “bouts” on many other important social issues, in which he has unapologetically articulated positions consistent with his conservative worldview.

Barber is an expert on all matters political and cultural and he writes with directness and flare. He employs his analytical insight and eye for detail to unmask the deceptions regularly practiced by our political foes in Washington D.C. He has called out Barack Obama on his “moral clarity deficit,” he has decried as a bad idea — then, and now — gays in the military, and exposed some of the most heinous aspects of Obamacare, refusing to accept at face value the Democrats’ disingenuous denial that it very well could lead to taxpayer funded abortions.

Barber goes beyond the black and white text of the proposed legislation to supply the necessary context. And it is a context that would horrify any freedom loving, morally grounded American.

As secular forces are fighting to knock down Christian expression from the public square, and take away our constitutional free speech rights Matt Barber is ready to answer the bell. He’s stepping back into the ring and he’s not pulling any punches.

What People Are Saying

“Our country is at a crossroads. Now, more than ever, we need strong voices to stem the tide of liberalism that is washing away America’s Judeo-Christian heritage. Matt Barber is one of those voices and The Right Hook provides conservatives with an important call to action.” – Former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee

“Devout left-wing ideologues have for decades moved progressively closer to their goal of erasing our nation’s Judeo-Christian founding and remaking America in their own secular humanist self-image. But Matt Barber is fighting back. The Right Hook is a must read for anyone who seeks to preserve America’s Godly heritage.” – Former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich

“We are thankful that God picked Matt Barber out of the boxing ring and placed him in the national ring to go head to head with the adversaries of our country. We found this book to be interesting and very worthwhile to read as we all fight the battle for the soul of America.” – Tim and Beverly LaHaye

“Matt Barber needs to be heard by every American. He is a man who’s faith drives him to fight for the truth and that makes him the kind of leader people should follow.” – Congressman Tom Delay

“The boxer and the politico are brothers-in-arms – both are in a violent struggle to win. One uses his fists-and the other-persuasion. Matt Barber has been in “the ring” and the political ring. Defending our culture takes courage and Barber has what it takes. Do you?” – Jonathan Garthwaite, Editor in Chief, Townhall.com

“This book is accurately titled. It not only conveys Matt Barber’s sudden career switch, it reflects the dynamic and timely message of the book. Americans need to hear it and Matt Barber delivers it with the force of those blows he once delivered as a prize fighter.” – Joseph Farah, Founder, Editor and CEO of WorldNetDaily.com.

“The forces of moral relativism have openly declared war on our Judeo-Christian culture. If this isn’t worth saving, what is? But to save it you have to know how to fight for it, which Matt Barber is doing so effectively. This book is a must-read for conservatives.” – Brent Bozell, Founder and President of the Media Research Center.

“Liberals are finding out the hard way that they’ve stepped into the ring with a heavyweight. Matt Barber shows no quarter on the canvas of opinion writing, although he’d rather rehabilitate his victims than abandon them. He also knows how to make people laugh, punctuating serious points with politically incorrect humor. Matt is always worth reading, and those who cherish American freedom and traditional values will come away from The Right Hook: From the Ring to the Culture War glad that someone as talented, focused and Biblically literate as Matt is on their side. Liberals? Well, they might want to see their dentists about getting a plastic guard for all those times they’ll be gritting their teeth.” – Robert Knight, Senior Writer/Correspondent for Coral Ridge Ministries, a Senior Fellow at the American Civil Rights Union, and the author of Fighting for America’s Soul (Coral Ridge 2009).

“It turns out that ‘change we can believe in’ is but a tired retread of ‘change’ we can’t afford. From radical homosexual extremism to a pro-abortion culture of death, our unique and honorable American way of life is under attack from spiritual and political forces. Matt Barber is on the front lines in countering these forces that inevitably lead to a loss of life and liberty. Every freedom loving American should read Right Hook.” – Mathew D. Staver, Founder and Chairman of Liberty Counsel and Dean and Professor of Law at Liberty University School of Law.

Join Matt Barber — a Champion in the Culture War Ring

By Peter LaBarbera

Folks, in the few years I have known Matt Barber — I met him in 2005 after he was fired by Allstate Insurance Company after writing an article on his own time critical of homosexuality — I have come to see him is an antidote of sorts for the ills besetting the “anti-homosexual-agenda” movement. (Calling it “anti-gay” makes it sound like we’re against people when we really oppose destructive, unnatural and changeable behaviors that for centuries have been prohibited according to Judeo-Christian moral teachings; “gay” self-identity is a very new concept, historically speaking.)

Barber’s contribution to our noble cause should not be underestimated: he is just as unapologetic and aggressive for biblical truth as hell-bent activists like Kevin Jennings and HRC’s Joe Solmonese are for their evil agendas. That’s why coming to see him at AFTAH’s banquet on Saturday, October 24 will be so good for your soul. Each of us needs to have our batteries recharged to fight the anti-Christian Left — and there is no force, short of Muslim extremists perhaps, that poses a greater threat to our God-given American liberties than the homosexual/transsexual activist juggernaut.

Matt will pump you up to fight on for God, family and country and help put things in perspective about why we must resist the nefarious “GLBT” (gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender) lobby — or lose our nation and its precious freedoms as we know them.

STUDENT/PASTOR DISCOUNT: I am so convinced that Matt will spur you on to do good deeds for the Kingdom that I have cut the price in half for pastors and teenage students to attend: from $50 to $25 per person. Would you please prayerfully consider sponsoring your pastor or teenage students (and their friends) for $25 to hear Matt’s talk? If you cannot muster up the $25, then e-mail AFTAH and we’ll find a way to get that person there — because I do not want anyone to miss this uplifting presentation for lack of money. You can call 910-308-7619 or write us at americansfortruth@comcast.net.

In a world of insane political correctness and perversion- and gender-confusion-based “rights,” our young people and spiritual leaders NEED to hear Barber’s bold defense of truth.

If it is true that religious America is filled with “evangellyfish” and “Catholic cop-outs” who are marked by their timidity in the public square and disdain for the “culture wars,” then Matt is just the shark we need to tear down their bogus excuses and restore a vision of courageous Christian citizenship in this blessed nation. He doesn’t try to be “nicer than Jesus,” as many Christians do today who cannot bear to apply God’s “tough love” standard to this Sin Movement euphemistically known as “gay civil rights.” Instead, Matt just stands fearlessly on the truth that flows from the Bible — backed by reason — and fights as hard for it today as he did in the ring as a professional heavyweight boxer who went undefeated before bowing out due to an injury. (Click HERE to watch Matt’s knock-out fights on YouTube.)

If you fall into one of these categories, then hearing Matt’s tough but true message on Oct. 24 is just what you need:

Are you overly defensive about fighting in the “culture war” or think that it gets in the way of Christians “ministering to the gay community”?
Do you shy away from cultural confrontation and think it’s more “Christ-like” for believers to stay out of the messy Culture Wars?
Do you have doubts about the rightness of our cause or whether God’s word remains valid in today’s “gay”-affirming culture? Are you sometimes embarrassed or resentful about the Bible’s strong prohibition against homosexual sin, or find yourself questioning God’s word even as you accept the flawed presumptions of homosexual apologists?
Are you nervous about being called “intolerant” or hateful if you stand up for real marriage and against the many demands of the GLBT movement?
Do you feel homosexuals largely have no choice about their “orientation” so why shouldn’t they have (homosexuality-based) “civil rights” like other minorities?
Do you feel we’ve already lost this battle so what’s the point of fighting on? That “same-sex marriage” is inevitable? Or that the Culture War is futile because the “end times” are upon us and Bible predicts immorality will continue to grow anyway?
Are you beaten down by the persistence and power of ungodly forces in our culture? Are you so sick of this issue you just don’t want to deal with it anymore?
Do you think protecting the word “marriage” is the best we can hope for when it comes to stopping the GLBT movement?
Do you feel like “gays and lesbians” are largely victims in our culture — including at the hands of “rigid,” pharisaical Christians — and that the Church should move away from its “obsession” with this issue and on to more pressing matters like Global Warming?
Are you largely ignorant of the size, financial resources and clout of the GLBT movement? Would your attitude toward the Culture War change if you saw how outgunned pro-family forces are in this battle?
Do you have trouble answering this question from the other side: “How does my gay marriage affect your marriage?”
Now be honest: most of us struggle with at least one of those questions, and many justify inaction using similar lines of thinking.

Matt Barber’s inspiring story is the answer to such Christian confusion and defeatism. He is the personification of that very non-obscure verse in the Book of Romans (8:28): “And we know that God causes all things to work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose.” He could never have predicted what his Heavenly Father had in store for him when he was fired by Allstate in a heavy-handed act of anti-religious bigotry. (If you doubt that, apply the “gay-Christian” substitution test: can you imagine a Fortune 500 corporation abruptly firing a homosexual employee who was privately championing “gay pride” on the web? Exactly.)

Matt and his wife faced financial ruin and a sudden dead-end to his solid career path thanks to Allstate’s liberal intolerance. However, through God’s amazing grace and provision, he now rhetorically battles the very same Homosexual Activist Lobby that cost him his job. (The homosexual group Human Rights Campaign, which played a key role in Matt’s demise at Allstate, is welcoming President Obama as keynote speaker at its fund-raising dinner Saturday night.) And frankly, Matt is amazed that so many fellow Christians are now bowing out of the “culture war” on the “gay” issue despite the clear and present danger that organized homosexuality poses to our children and to our First Amendment liberties — at at time when our political enemies are boasting that they are on the precipice of total victory!

God wouldn’t have us quit the battle for Truth in a free society and concede to a powerful special interest lobby that despises and twists His Inerrant Word to rationalize their particular besetting sin (one He calls “detestable”). We must defend the Truth no matter what comes — as Matt has — because God wins in the end, and His truth will set men free.

Christians on high alert over hate crimes passage
Charlie Butts - OneNewsNow -
10/24/2009 4:15:00 AM

A hate crimes bill sent to President Obama for his signature raises a red flag for Christians.

On Thursday, the U.S. Senate passed a hate crimes bill that Christian leaders have warned for years could greatly infringe on the rights of those who speak to loudly about their religious views. Matt Barber of Liberty Counsel agrees with most observers that President Obama will sign the measure -- adding that the president desires to "throw a bone to homosexual activists because they have been breathing down his neck...and this is a way to hold them off."

Barber views the legislation as something akin to a muzzle. "Unfortunately, it places Christians -- people of faith, people who have traditional values relative to sexual immorality...in an untenable position," says the attorney.

He notes that several years ago, a similar law in Pennsylvania resulted in the arrest of 11 Christians who were presenting the gospel at a Philadelphia homosexual rally. Barber goes on to say that the federal bill "will chill religious liberty and free speech -- and that is its intended purpose, not to protect anybody from hate crimes."

And as for pastors? "There is a very weak exemption in [the bill] which is totally illusory, and a religious exemption is not going to protect pastors," responds Barber. "Renegade prosecutors and politically correct leftists in positions of authority can subjectively determine what is or is not a hate crime." And then move on to prosecution, he adds.

Barber explains that Liberty Counsel intends to challenge the constitutionality of the hate crimes legislation.

MEDIA MATTERS
Critics attack unread book on culture war
Publisher confirms critical comments written without access to text

A new book by pro-family activist and attorney Matt Barber, who famously was fired from Allstate for writing – on his own time and on his own computer – about his beliefs about marriage, has been attracting all sorts of negative attention on Amazon.com.

But his publisher says the critics are commenting without having access to the book, since he's kept tight control of the select few advance copies made available to reviewers, and no one else has seen it.

"The Right Hook: From the Ring to the Culture War" by Barber, a pro boxer, insurance investigator, lawyer and pro-family activist, will be available to the public for the first time when Barber is the keynote speaker Saturday at a banquet for Americans for Truth, an Illinois-based pro-family group. Its general release is Nov. 3 .

But on Amazon, more than a dozen "reviewers" have blasted the book.

For example, a reviewer identified as "John E. Visser," wrote, "Folks, don't waste your money – this book (which I have read as an advanced copy) is completely loaded with nothing more than exaggerated opinion and faulty hyperbole."

"Daniel Stern" added: "The further along I got in this book, the more I resented being in a position of having to read it. Not only do I want my hour and a half back, I wish to be able to erase this crapola from my brain."

"Bstewart23" contributed, "My advance copy was quickly sent to the recycle bin after reading, not even to the community library, as the writer travels the too-familiar territory of obsessive, right-wing, misplaced victimhood at the feet of a shifting, more-enlightened culture."

However, the publisher, Tristan Emmanuel of FreedomPress.ca, told WND the reviewers are making up their "observations."

"They would have had to purchase a copy, which I could track," he confirmed to WND, purchases which have yet to happen.

"They are lying about Matt's book," he said.

Barber and the publisher told WND advance copies have not been available, and only a few select advance drafts were sent under tightly controlled conditions to several reviewers.

The recipients include former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee, who concluded: "Our country is at a crossroads. Now, more than ever, we need strong voices to stem the tide of liberalism that is washing away America’s Judeo-Christian heritage. Matt Barber is one of those voices."

Another was former House Speaker Newt Gingrich, who wrote. "The Right Hook is a must read for anyone who seeks to preserve America's Godly heritage."

WND editor and CEO Joseph Farah concluded, "This book is accurately titled. It not only conveys Matt Barber's sudden career switch, it reflects the dynamic and timely message of the book. Americans need to hear it and Matt Barber delivers it with the force of those blows he once delivered as a prize fighter."

"It is impossible that anyone who wrote a review on Amazon has read the book," Barber confirmed to WND.

The ratings from the "reviewers" on Amazon were uniformly low, one out of five stars, and they tagged it with words including "homophobia," "hate speech," "closet homosexual" and "barbra streisand."

WND has reported opponents of Christian-themed books have publicly disclosed a strategy to condemn books on Amazon.

"Through these childish and dishonest attempts to discourage people from reading 'The Right Hook,' liberal activists and bloggers obtusely prove one of the book's main points: that socialists, atheists, militant 'gay' activists and other secular leftists can't win the debate on the merits," Barber told WND.

"They desperately resort to Orwellian propagandist tactics in an effort to keep the truth from getting out. This appears to be the left's strategy de jour. We're seeing the same thing with the Obama administration's calculated attacks on 'Fox News.' The result? Americans are too savvy to be fooled. That's why 'Fox News' ratings are going through the roof."

Several online stories at Amazon listed the book for sale, but none responded to inquiries about whether they actually had the book in stock.

Homosexual activists take U.N. diplomat to task
Charlie Butts -
OneNewsNow -
10/24/2009 4:10:00 AM

Homosexual activists who have been trying to gain recognition from the United Nations are still upset over comments by General Assembly President Ali Abdussalam Treki.

When asked by a journalist for his position on a U.N. declaration about homosexuality, the Libyan diplomat stated: "As a Muslim, I do not agree with it. My opinion is not in favor of this matter at all. I believe it is not acceptable for most of the world, and it is totally unacceptable for our tradition and religion." His comments brought swift response from the international homosexual movement.

But Matt Barber of Liberty Counsel says Treki's statement is in tune with the majority of countries and religions that believe homosexuality is aberrant behavior. And Treki, he adds, is not attacking homosexuals.

"All I hear [Treki] saying is that the rest of the world cannot be forced to accept behaviors that are demonstrably destructive to both individuals who engage in those behaviors and to the society around them," states Barber.

Treki has been harshly criticized by activist groups around the world. Barber believes that illustrates that those groups demand tolerance, but are the least tolerant themselves.

"They are completely intolerant of other people's belief systems [and] of other cultures," says the Christian attorney. "We hear talk of cultural diversity -- [but] there is no cultural diversity as far as the left is concerned and as far as homosexual activists are concerned. It's either their way or the highway."

Barber says it is all about accepting those groups' radical redefinition of what is or is not sexual morality.
