Karen Koehler graduated from the University of
Washington in 1982 and from Seattle University Law School in 1985. She
worked as an insurance defense lawyer for nine years, the rest of which
have been spent advocating on behalf of injured plaintiffs.
Ms. Koehler
was a speaker at the trial bars in Washington, Alaska, Idaho and New
Mexico and for ATLA’s annual automobile case seminar on how to litigate
against insurance companies.
Ms. Koehler is on the WSTLA Board of Governors,
Chair of Continuing Legal Education, and the Chair of the WSTLA insurance
section. She is a member of ATLA, and is presently serving as the
Vice-chair of the Motor Vehicle Collision and Highway, and Premises
Liability Section, and is the Washington state delegate to the ATLA
Minority Caucus.

D. Freeman
Michael
D. Freeman, Ph.D., D.C., M.P.H. DAAPM, FACFE, BCFE, BCFM, FICC
is a trauma epidemiologist from Oregon, frequently serving as
an expert in crash injury and death cases in both civil and
criminal litigation. He is the best-known expert in the U.S.
on the junk science and biomechanics and accident
reconstruction. He holds a Ph.D. in trauma epidemiology from
Oregon State University, as well as a degree in biostatistics
from that school.
Dr. Freeman is certified as a crash
reconstructionist with Northwestern University in Evanston,
Illinois, and serves as a Deputy Medical Examiner in Marion
County as well as a Consultant Forensic Trauma Epidemiologist
to the Medical Examiner Division of the Oregon State Police,
analyzing fatal collisions and the resulting injuries. He has
designed and conducted human volunteer crash testing
experiments, the results of which are currently in press with
the Journal of Accident Analysis and Prevention. He is the
co-editor in chief of the Journal of Whiplash and Related
Disorders and the scientific chair of the North American
Whiplash Trauma Congress.
